Peter I deplore terrorism along with the next man and have never said anything different to that.

We are fighting terrorism . Please tell me what evidence you have , or give any links , that this terrorism is coming from Iraq if that is what your trying to imply .

Any war with Iraq will not stop acts of terrorism only increase risk for decades to come.

Hypothetically - Iraq may not now have huge stocks of biological/chemical weapons. However, nobody denies that they did have. In all probability some stocks still exist. Saddam may not be a devout Muslim, but some of his people quite probably are and also quite probably carry anti American feelings. Sooner or later Saddam's regime will end. What happens in the vacuum? I believe that this is where the fear of western governments lye. They require access to that land to ensure that these substances are not passed to fundamentalist elements. The only way to guarantee access to that land?

So in a way I agree with you, the whole truth is not being spelt out by the powers that be. But I feel that it is ultimately the threat of the terrorism that makes this war necessary. It is a strong case, but not one that would gain a UN mandate.

I dont know the acuracity or details of this , but it has been reported that there are 1000's of agricultural machines lying abandoned in fields through out Russia. The machines that were used for the treating of seeds each contain plutonium .

Anyone have any details on this ?

not realy Poledark , if your concern that there is " stuff" lying around Iraq , I was merely tryin to point out that there is apparently tons of the stuff lyin about in fields in russia that any terrorist can lay his hands on . Also in the USA , if you recall that guy with a scrapyard who pinched an abandoned container hoping to melt down the metal . Unfortunately it also contained plutonium and the authorities had to isolate and clean up the whole town .

the 'stuff lying around in Iraq' has been designed as weapons. It is 'weapon grade', it is designed to be easily delivered. It is the anthrax, smallpox etc, the method of easily delivering virtually invisible agents that would cause mass hysteria and truly terrorise people.

We cannot just sit back and allow the fear of it happening to prevent us from taking positive action to prevent it. You appear to be so afraid of something it prevents you from seeing all options. You cannot appease terrorists, the only way to guarantee a world free from terrorism is to eradicate them.

Your confusing my fear with amusement Peter . No you can not appease terrorists , nor are you going to make the world a safer place to live in by bombing Iraq , a country that even the CIA admit has had nothing to do with terrorist activities of 9/11.

you can not stop terrorism full stop , you can only hope to address the causes of such , and if anyone thinks that bombing the hell out of Iraq is going to achive this could I suggest that they hink again
