Machine Problems

Elton

Recommended Posts

My machine keeps coming to a g.r.i.n.d.i.n.g halt if left on for a while - not ideal, as I really need it right now.

I thought it was down to heat. The CPU fan is working and the thermostatic fan kicks in if the case heats up, but I've taken the covers off, anyway.

What else can I do?

Cheers,

Elton

PS A reboot seems to sort things pdq

could be anything but if use windows 98 and have over 512mb of ram that could be the problem as i had with one of my systems, it turns out win98 has a memory leak that kicks in over 512mb you could try downloading something like ram optimizer or as an alternative you could goto

www.pcpitstop.com and run their tests as they seem to find out most things that wrong with my systems

Elton, I had overheat problems with my PC (I think!)

I removed the pcu fan and found the heatsink grid was clogged with fluff. Not had any problems since but I did check it again about three weeks ago and it was still clear.

Worth a try maybe?
