i noticed i had some blackfly on my beans and peas today so i gaily trotted off to my local small garden center ,on browsing the shelves i found 3 bug killers :) on perusing the back i notice the usuall get out clause of a obselete product on one (use as nessesary :mad: )so that was obviasly a contact killer (gone one day back the next) the next was a super bio version with the same instructions and the last could only be used on tomatoes and eggplants :(

on questioning the owner she said that nowadays systemic insectacides were banned (along with everything else that works ) typical nanny state if I want to ingest it then so i should :mad: the goverment should be taking the large companies to task to stop them putting chemicals in their products :mad: at least with mine i can choose what to put in it with all other food i cannot :mad: i shall keep my eye out at carboots for chemicals that really work ,i have plenty containing lindane and another with 245T both of these i have ingested over 30 years with no visible harm to me or my 3 headed children :mad:

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

 

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

we had a large nest of small wasps last year in the corner of the house (i did a post on it) after they had departed (the queens anyway) the hole was sealed ,last we had no pests at all in the garden (its what wasps eat) this year no wasps plenty of bugs :( even the normal wasps havent apeared its very strange

I don't grow these days, but I found that a watering can of soapy water was a very good remedy for black fly on broad beans and peas. It's not a once and for all cure of course, but it's cheap and cheerful, and did the trick, it just seemed to make them dry up.

Why is it that we nearly always have to disagree? Personally I could'nt care less if you were to quaff the stuff by the pint, but you have got no right to go spraying it into the envoronment. We all live there not just you.

 

And BTW all the chemicals you are talking about are extremely toxic to fish!

I was once told that all the bad press resulting in the banning of 245T was all down to the drug lobby in America because it was the chemical used by the enforcement agencies to kill off drug crops found growing in the woods.

i think it was the major ingrediant in "agent orange"

hence my reference to 3 headed children :)

i will spray where i please :P and hopefully it will prevent any fish from the river popping up and scoffing my food sources :P
