Unauthorised shutdowns

Recommended Posts

A friends computer keeps shutting down, for no apparent reason.

He has done a Norton sweep and found nothing, AdAware etc., with the same results.

This is a message he gets;

"SYSTEM SHUTDOWN

C:WINNTSYSTEM32LSASS.EXE

TERMINATED UNEXPECTEDLY"

Any ideas, please ?

Before going to far check the basics,

Is the CPU fan working ok.....has it slowed down due to wear or dust. Is it seated ok with a dollop of paste. Have the fins on the heatsink clogged up with dust.......especially if it located near a door or window (does not infer lack of housework,it's an entry point of dust)

Has he bought any new memory.....that was a fault I had. Was told memory either works or it does not......not true.

If it is none of these i'm sure the more tech help will be supplied.

It takes longer for the river to get to the sea than it does for a man to make an error.
