I have downloaded the above and run it every day for the past week. The first time i ran it i was amazed the rubbish on my computer and cleard it all. the only thing i get every time i scan is (under problem in red)DSO EXPLOIT 1 entrie.

When i press for more information it comes up with the following: HKEY_USERSDEFULTSOFTWAREMICROSOFTCURRENT VERSIONINTERNET SETTINGSZ.

then i go into location an it showes me atleast 70 to 100 folder files.

i've keep pressing fix problem and it states problem fixed but keeps returning in the next days scan

has anyone had this problem or can advise me how to get rid of it.

Regards

The DSO exploit is real but basically harmless.

There is a bug in the version you have (probably v1.3) that causes Spybot to report that it's cleaned the 5 DSO entries when in fact, it has not.

Version 1.4 is available now for download. It's a beta version so not absolutely guaranteed to be stable but I have it on several PCs and it's working fine. It does remove the DSO things.

You can either remove DSO, ignore DSO, or get the updated version. You are safe in any event.

I'd also suggest two other bits of protection that play nice with Spybot and tend to help keep a cleaner system. A google search for the name and download will give you a link.

Spywareblaster is a passive protection thing. Download, install, update, immunize, and it won't need to be run until the next time you update. I do them about every two weeks. It does not find and remove baddies but does block well over 3000 of them from ever getting in so that Spybot has less stuff to find and remove.

Ad-Aware SE has a free version that is similar to Spybot in the way it operates. No Immunize feature but it finds some things that Spybot misses (and vice versa so good to run both).

Google and

download spybot 1.4

download spywareblaster

download ad-aware

(and make sure you pick the free version unless you want the extra features of the paid version).

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

chesters, sounds like theyre cookies, which you'll pick up again on the web...immunize with spybot against them may block them, but theyre not much to worry about. Basically all they do is tell advertisers where you've been and what ad's you've hit. Depends if you like that info going out...not a great privacy scare amongst the millions of hits they get, but theres a principle in there somewhere getting trodden on i suppose :|

paul.saunders:

I also downloaded Grisoft AVG 7 aswasn't shore if they stopped any viruses

Good idea. The items I suggested are all spyware/malware related and will ignore most virus packages.

I run the same AV you just got and like it well.
