Steady as a rock. I didn't feel the least bit uncomfortable nor did Nanuk ever give me the feeling that she was on the limit - the secondary stability is king in these conditins and the "tippy" kayak in flat water suddenly becomes the stable one in the rough. The gunwale rails provide the stability against the rising swells.

Coming back in with the sea astern she wanted to broach if I stopped paddling, but that was because she drifts beam on, not stern to. Keep paddling and you can surf in beautifully.

Well good on ya for getting the hang of posting the pics.

Impressive set of pics too.

Have you considered getting a drift sock so you can fish in a wind like that?

Are you sitting astride in that last picture taken broadside of the boat?

Note the high paddle angle - it gives you more power and keeps the kayak straight - the pull is closer to the side of the kayak and so doesn't pull the bow round like a long paddle will with the blade further out. My paddle is a 210cm and I am 6' exactly.

Here I am amongst my usual boat testing fare - I felt rather smug as I paddled down through the marina and tied up alongside -

Simon Everett:

but why do I have to re login every time I go to load a picture?

Simon - it has to be your browser settings re: cookie handling.

Say what browser version you use and I can probably give you the settings that will stop you from having to log in so often.

Thank you Newt - your help was invaluable. Yes i was sitting astride, just got my feet dangling to change position a bit and save sitting in the same spot all the time.

The wind was howling and it was all I could do to paddle against it. I did troll about for an hour or so, but the weed had got stirred up and so it was useless - I couldn't keep the lure clear for more than a few yards. I paddled about really to see how she would cope in short, steep seas and so I could get some pictures to share. I have been a bit lax in that department lately.

Or me pushing the wrong button! Instead of using the back button and getting a half filled in form each time - which is what happened when I used the minus sign in the top right corner before going to load the next picture. Silly me.

S'OK Simon. We understand that you old guys have trouble getting the hang of these things but it will come to you. :D:D

I just looked over your pictures again and am more impressed this time than the first time I read the thread. Great stuff.
