Zander In The Trent

visiting another site aparently a fellow angler caught a six pound zander in the river trent :huh: any more reports of these been caught anywhere else in the uk ?

they've been caught for years from the middle reaches especially around long eaton/sawley but they are few and far between and only of

about 3-5lb in size that i've hurd off and your lucky if you hear off one

comming out a year.they tend to call um pikeperch around here.

the odd one may off worked its way into the trent from the lincolnshire drains/rivers that run into the trent.

theres been a small head of zander in the trent for a few years. how they got there is open to conjecture but they certainly exsist though not in massive numbers, though the one a year is a bit over pessimistic.

they are increasing in size, biggest i have heard of, or has been reported is 12lb+

be interesting to see what kind of a foothold they get, though if i was to hazzard a guess then i think that the tidal reaches if they are more coloured will see the largest populations/ specimens.
