If it has increased water retension, won't that make it more difficult to lift off? If it retains water on it's surface, won't that increase the drag as it travels thro the rod rings? We will probably be able to try them out for nothing when they come free attached to the cover of "Trout Fisherman"! Call me a sceptic, but I have some experience of Airflo floating lines and none of it has been good

But it might be interesting on the sinking lines; particularly the Hi-D type, which can feel quite rough on the surface in addition the water retention could help it to break the surface tension and increase its sinkability (is that a new word Ive just invented?).

You're probably right Tony and there's never been a problem with Airflo sinking lines. Some of the best you can buy. It's Airflo's crap floaters that bug everyone. They know the problem, but they just keep producing more crap lines. Then there's the Airflo hype. My prediction is a high original rrp followed a couple of weeks (if not days) later, buy massive reductions or 'buy 2 lines for.....' offers.

You are right about the Airflo floaters of course I bought the Airflo Gold oh my god, what a load of S***E; but I did once get a free polyfuse, from the cover of Trout Fisherman, which is still going strong and with virtually no memery, must have been a bad batch.

I also got one of those off the Trout Fisherman cover - it was OK for pulling fast but no good for nymphing and dries due to it's terrible memory. It must have beena good batch! :D Going back to the original article, weren't the grooves cut into F1 tyres to slow the cars down?
