Any topic containing the word "license" is sure to fire up a few people :P

I for one dont like the idea of a license.....Ive spent an arm and a leg on fishing tackle already and Ive only been at it 6 months or so :P a lot more than half the time I dont catch anything so IMO a license is just another tax.

maximo:

a licence would be ok by me,if you got something back for it,which i for one dont beleive we would.

maximo:

Why cannot they take a percentage from our tackle buying?, that way, everybody pays.

Or am I chatting sh*t.

We're told that VAT on sea angling already produces £63M.

What difference is another £3M going to make, after all the bailifs have been paid to hassle anglers into buying a license?

Hi Casey,

I don't know where you fish, but all of the freshwaters I have fished have had club or owner bailiffs, most times they will ask for your rod licence before they will sell you a day ticket. Try and fish a Salisbury club water and you will be asked for your rod licence.

If your not being asked someone is failing their members or owners.

I can only go on my experiences fishing Hamp. Avon, Nadder, Wyley, Dorset Stour, and various gravel pits and lakesin that area, this also included trout waters.

I fish, I catches a few, I lose a few, BUT I enjoys. Anglers Trust PM
