It's my Dads 50th soon and I haven't a clue what to get him.

He is mad on carp fishing and I am desperatly looking for ideas in the region of £100.

So anyone who has an idea I be very grateful if you could either mail me or post here.

there's loads of bits and gizmos to buy a carper, but it maybe best to find out if there's any specific thing he's missing or needs replacing, as £100 is a lot to spend only to find out he's already got one.

To be honest, if Dad is mad keen on carp fishing ; he has probably got everything he needs. So the safest bet is to ask him.

I might go for something a little different, as tackle can be a tough one to get right.

Take a look at Steve Burke’s http://www.classicfishingbooks.co.uk website. My mother in law purchased a few old titles for me at Christmas from Steve (including a mint copy of Quest for Carp – Jack Hilton :clap2: ). There are lots of very interesting carp titles and many ltd editions – I’m sure something of that nature would be *extremely* well received, I know mine were. B)

Or, how about the full Passion for Angling Box Set http://www.passionforangling.info/ - Can’t think of any angler who would not be over the moon at receiving that! I also got the ‘caught in time’ DVD for crimbo – well worth a look.

And yes, I know I was a lucky boy at Christmas.

PS - Did I mention I also got a copy of Tony-Davies Patrick’s 2006 Carp Calendar as well? (http://www.pinkkipperpublishing.co.uk)

Many thanks for that recommendation, Julian!

Please note that we're in the process of making a few changes to the site so it may be a little confusing at present. If you have a problem whilst this work is being done please e-mail or PM me.

I'd add that I also offer gift vouchers so that your loved ones can buy the books they like rather than having them chosen for them. Alternatively, I'm happy to make suggestions.

Two things that may appeal; One is a silver carp - I have one off the guy who makes them but I don't know how you can get them now. Or, and perhaps better, is to get a handcarved carp. I had one made about 6 years ago and it's a cracker. Might cost more than £100 nowadays but certainly worth looking into.
