Drove past it last year coming back from the Mull of Galloway. It

really does look like a beautiful bit of water but quite a biggie. There are bound to be hot spots as with most waters so insider information will be a big help on that expanse of water.

Tight lines, looking forward to your report :D

The bit I fish is the North West bank. You can buy a ticket at the grocers in New Galloway which is only a mile or so from the loch. Or you can wait until the guy comes round. It is £3 per rod.

I have found that there are pike all over the Loch. They seem to follow the prey fish. On Saturday we were catching roach about 25 yards out. We only had 1 jack and missed 2 runs.

This stretch of the bank is reserved each Sunday for a match.

The crayfish are relentless so I pop up my baits and this solves the problem.

When the water is high it is harder to get a space on the bank. Most of the good spots have anglers on them most of the time. Dont worry about that get in where you can the fish will hopefully come to you.

My best bait has always been smelt but my m8 swears by small mackerel.

I was a bit concerned about finding the right spots, drive round it on a Saturday and you will see where the regulars go.

Good luck

Peter :D

A bad days fishing is better than a good day at the office. Tight lines all.
