Lurefishing - Manorbier area

Croix

Recommended Posts

I'm going on holiday soon near Manorbier and just wondering if anyone has any info on lurefishing/spinning for mackerel, pollack, bass, gar, etc between Lydstep and Stackpole.

I've done a lot of freshwater lurefishing but know very little regarding sea fishing, any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

There's a good area at Monorbier.

Go down to the bay and you will find rocks on the left.

Spinners, condoms, rapalas or rubber sandeels will all catch.

You could also try a bass bandit or bass bullet, both which will cast a mile.

Also there is a few sea trout around.

Good fishing.

Keith.

if you go up the hill past these and upover the top you can carefully make your way down to the water.. lots of gullies ideal for bass and wrasse, pollock on the float. but if you want to cast out further use rotten bottom rigs as its very snaggy

Croix,

sorry I didn't notice your post earlier...but sound advice from Llandoverysurfer and Keith Banks. Follow the path around the Cliff to the left of the beach...beware some of the breath-taking drops...and check out the gully protected by a small section of railing...useless to fish it, but awesome to look down at

Follow on around the corner until you are on the seaward side and pick your spot for the next mile or so.

Watch out for freak waves and giant swells which occasionally barrel in...strange rocks to walk on in places too!!!

But try anything you like...wrasse are paticularly good...approaching welsh record sizes. Pollack to double figures, conger, Bass, garfish, mackerel and dogs abundent(!) Float fish, spin, wack a big bait out...you name it you'll see results. Snaggy though, so bring plenty of terminal tackle..the fish are worth it though :D:D:D

Happy Hols
