Its a new year and things just dont seem to change.

it makes me very angry and sad to see one of our oceans most beautiful creatures being slaughtered for the sake of greedy fishermen who could if they were made to, fish in other ways that would not cause these so unecessary killings, i just cant believe our government are allowing this to still happen on our very own doorstep.

The 12 mile limit pair trawling ban only in the sw aproaches is a pathetic gesture that clearly does jack sh*t to put a stop to this, and they should be ashamed of their lack of spine to stand up and show their disgust at the eu's stance on this.

I hate nets of all discription and i would willingly give up eating fish altogether just to save one of these little fella's lives if that was the answer, but i know this would never be possible in this grab now pay later p*ssed up world we all live in.

Because its not on their doorstep, if they were being washed up the thames perhaps there would be more interest, hypocrites :wallbash:

There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore like an idiot!

Our government can't do anything to stop it, they can't even stop the French coming into the 6 mile line. our government has no power in Europe.

As for the gill net fishery inshore, I am sure it has been closely monitored , I have not heard that it is responsible for many dolphine deaths.

I fish to live and live to fish.

I saw in the paper recently that some group or other dumped a washed up dead Whale outside a government building in Germany in protest over something to do with Whales. They had it lifted onto a big flat bed lorry by crane, and the local Police gave it an escort to the building!

Perhaps Greenpeace ought to take a tipper load of dead Dolphins and dump them outside the House of Commons?

All that food going to waste!

If the U-boats were still around, we'd be glad to eat anything, be whales, dolphins or horses!

Hello fishingsfine

quote

As for the gill nets, you 'have not heard' wurzel. Is that an evidence for anything but babble?

I have heard that it is a true fact that more and more live dolphines are deing spotted all around the UK

Oh perlease!!!

I'm all for putting a stop to unwarranted killing of stuff (the thing that angers me at present is badger digging) but such remarks are more consistent with the vegan tree hugging brigade than fishermen.

People dont need to adopt such steps, it just requires a government (Be it ours or european) with a bit of common sense. Same issues surround long lining too.
