Cheers tigger, it had a proper belly on it for a river carp. Must admit I was a tad gutted when it first surfaced as the barbel go well into double figures here. Incidently it's the same venue I had my 23lb09 river common from a few years ago

It has got a fair old belly on it for a river fish I wonder if it's been in the river very long ? The 17lber is a crackin catch but a 23lb river carp is a dream catch imo !

It will have been, this isn't technically the river it is a weir from the canal that joins back into the canal after flowing through a small backstream. Would have had to travel a fair distance to get here from a lake in the floods

Was just briefly attached to something that 'locked up' my 1.75tc korum barbel rod and snapped my 12lb mainline when I tried to stop it getting into snags line snapping under a lot of tension makes a pretty loud crack!
