For anybody who does not fish during the old close season keep your eye on your tackle .

In the past I have had problems with mice in my nets and tacklebox.

Yep.

Mice accounted for 3 cork handles, 1 bedchair mattress and a couple of nets I noticed when moving out of my old house

Trouble is that all my stuff is now in my aunts garage awaiting to be shipped out here so gawd knows what damage will be done by the time that happens :(

Cheers

Your Aunt eats nets and cork? Shame on you for letting the poor old lady go hungry!

I had a problem with mice in the garage in my old house - not only did they eat nets, groundbait, rod bags, etc. they also made everything stink :yucky: I live in a flat now so all my gear's in the hallway cupboard, so I shouldn't have any more problems...I hope.

Your better keeping your rods in the plastic rod tubes, or suspendig your tackle from the ceiling if you keep it outside in the garage or shed.

try and find an old locker at your local dump ,your rods and rod bags will at least be out of harms way .

the old cork handles used to be a favourite treat not so much the cork but the smell of bait and groundbait trapped in the voids ,i expect even modern foam butts can get it ingrained especially feeder rods.

metal is the only way to keep them out so maybe an old fashioned metal trunk can be used for every thing else.

we stored a brand new carpet still in its plastic wrap in the loft at our old house and on moving took it for our living room ,imagine the words muttered as we unrolled it to find a mouse had chewed from the outside to the inside there was a neat hole at regular intervals right across

if you use poison get mouse poison rat poison doesent work even the industrial strenght version with a "branded" name .
