What charger

Hi folks,

After looking on the topics, it seems that a few of you use the 3.3 AH batteries. Are these the ones to go for to power a fishfinder, can you get away with a 1.2 AH? Is there a way of finding out whats suitable for one of the new range garmins. Is there a calculation to do to find out how long would run for based on the power required?

Just placed the order for the new toys this morning should be all fitted for easter... just need to get the battery pack sorted now.

Thanks for all the help.

Think I over did it. I use a 9ah battery. Having said that a single charge has run my colour unit for over 24hours so far and still going strong. Literally, its next to me at the moment as Im entering in some wreck co-ords. (thinking of that weekend trip). :clap2:

Current drain on my FF/GPS unit is 170 milliamps lights off - 240 milliamps lit ( per hour )

My battery is rated at 10 Amp Hours so will provide 1 amp of power for 10 hours. then go flat :(

1 amp is equal to 1000 milliamps.

SO.....

10a ( 1000ma ) x 10 ( hrs ) = 10,000ma.

divide by either 170ma (power drain of unit with lights off ) = 58 hrs of use, or

240ma ( lights on ) =41 hrs of use.
