That's a good question.

 

If you are 15 when you buy the licence you should qualify for a junior licence as you were under 16 when you purchased it.

One thing I' not sure about though. Is the junior licence for youths 12 to 16 inclusive? ie a full licence required from 17.

 

I look at this way, if I buy a tax disc for my car don't pay again when Gordon Bloody Brown puts the duty up!

 

May be best to enquire at the post office or drop the EA an E-mail, don't expect a rapid response though.

Interesting. Why do over 65's need to prove their age, but not under 17's ??

Interesting. Why do over 65's need to prove their age

 

I always get my licences from a village sub post office. It is manned by two people on a shift basis.

 

I always hand over my existing concessional licences so the clerk can copy the details onto the new ones

 

One clerk accepts the existing concessional licence as proof of age.

 

The other one suspects I may have got younger since last season and demands to see my driving licence

Zenith10, you can fish with a junior licence until the day you are 17, when you will need a full licence.
