A pet shop near me sells live crickets and grasshoppers, might be worth a try for chub in the summer.

Phil - unless you are after REALLY BIG fish, a loaf of bread might be too much. Have you tried using smaller pieces?

Pick up a bag of Vitalin Original dog food if you're off to a pet store (Pets at Home are good for this)

It makes a brilliant method mix or groundbait - carp can't resist the stuff.
