A new fishery

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any ideas on this:

My parents and I are considering starting a small fishery in Norfolk. They own a site of about 7.5 acres and are seriously considering the possibility of creating a fishery of 1, 2 or 3 lakes/pools.

Anyone have any suggestions as to the best set-up for a site of this size, stocking strategies etc?

Of course, this is all subject to the relevant planning etc...

I'd strongly suggest that before you do anything else you contact Bruno Broughton. He posts on here from time to time but can be contacted on 01952-691515 and also has a web site at http://www.bruno-broughton.co.uk/

Bruno was a huge help to me in setting up Wingham, as was Ken Crow, who teaches fishery management and who supplied many of my fish. Ken's number is 01732-851544. Wingham wouldn't have been as successful without their help.

Finally, be aware that there are a lot of cowboys about, both fish suppliers and so-called fishery management consultants.

How about this for a thought - no carp ??!! ;)

What a nice thought :clap2:

How about setting up a "tradditional" mixed fishery type pool,

Silverfish, perch, tench, bream crucians, even a few carp wouldn't hurt, as long as the numbers were in proportion! the sort of place you could fish and not know what you were going to catch next!

Get something like that up and running, and I'd make the trip up from essex to fish, (assuming it's going to be day ticket!)
