Has anyone been on this boat or done any fishing in Gran Canaria ?

I intend on taking a bit of tackle for mullet fishing in the Marianas / docks cant wait.

Been with our lass 10yr so its no suprise that she has let me go fishing as that is what i do but it does get a smile from my fishing mates !!

I've fished The Canaries over 30 times over the past 8 years and slowly but surely have left the boat trips alone and concentrated on the shore fishing. A lot of this trolling up and down the coast is rubbish and a waste of money, the blanks really outweigh the good days.

The daylight fishing is brilliant but the clarity of the water makes it difficult. Make sure you take fleurocarbon trace line and believe it or not we've ended up swearing by clear bubble floats over there (take them with you). Squid is easy to get hold of and is the most reliable bait for the breams and wrasses, every kind you can think of. Take small hooks with you, they're not easy to get hold of.

My missus goes up the wall but try and get a night on the beaches and use a wire trace the eels are amazing and sooner or later someone is going to land the world record eagle ray from a night time beach in The Canaries.

Hi Melvin, I have fished on board the Blue Marlin I think the crew on the day were Hans and Benito. It was about 2-3 years ago and I had a great day out. We went trolling at first but no luck so we changed to bottom fishing for rays. I had an eagle ray and a small shark. I went with a mixed group of anglers as I could not afford to hire the boat to myself which would be my choice if you could afford it. I would go down the marina when the boats come in to see what they are catching and talk to the boats rep on the quayside (Hans I think). Find out if they are trolling or bottom fishing as they may be offering different trips each day.

Good luck with the wedding and especialy with the fishing.

P.S Just had our first wedding aniversary last weekend.

Marzi: seems that they arent having any look trolling at the minute, most of the fish have come from bottom fishing recently, its hans that i have been emailing, cant wait, its going to be top but i know our lass will get a bigger fish than me, but secretly i want her to as this could inspire her to come with me in englang when the weather isnt so wonderful for sunbathing.

When we upgraded the forum software for Anglers' Net a few years ago, many of the links from the old forum were broken. Part of my 'job' for early 2009 is to fix these, which I have done so for this thread. I haven't checked the destinations, I've just made them 'clickable' to the address that they used to goo to, so please PM me if you find any that have moved, giving as much detail as possible. Some of the links may have been 'unclickable', if it was impossible to work out what they should have been.

The only way I can spot relevant threads is a report in the server logs that somebody has recently tried to click a broken link. For that reason, I'm tagging this post onto each thread that is affected, as it may be that the member who clicked it will want to try again.

I'm hoping that the threads may be of interest to other members, though, and some old discussions may continue.
