did you spot my eel on the baiting tray?..... I did in fact have some rods out for tope but caught the bass on a 20lb hooklink.......would be mad to use that for 'em wouldn't you say Stoaty mate!!

Yep. I usually use 150-200lb mono for my tope.

 

I find with the big bass if you come off the banks and find the edge of where the brown water meets the green water that's where they often are. If the colours in your photo are true, then your not too far from a bank. But then I suppose you could say that about anywhere in the estuary.

like to show you all my 2nd double in the last 3 weeks. Caught in 95ft on mackerel. gave me one hell of a scrap and like all big bass should ....it went back Well chuffed!!!

 

Forgot to say it went 11.25lb

 

I have lodge a complaint with DEFRA about the unfair distribution of bass stocks, I only seem to catch the small ones

Thanks for the nice feedback chaps. I'm out again saturday with the intention of a large hound from shallow water (10ft or thereabouts) with sam cox. Maplin sands here we come....Will let you know how we go!
