Hi Kcrusty,

Sorry mate I missed your reply :o

It dosnt matter what you ride, as long as your out there having fun and catching fish :)

Where are you fishing from?

Wont be long now , soon be getting our Yaks wet again :)

Fly fishing a ?,....going to try a bit of that this season , Snatcher has made me up some smashing flys to tempt a fish or two.

What line do you prefer to use , and what wieght rod do you have?

The Pollock will be great fun on fly gear , Bass too.

What make is your Yak?

Cheers

YY :)

YY - I am seriously impressed. Beautiful outfitting job on your boat.

Two thoughts.

- have you got a place for the landing net while you are fishing? Some place where it doesn't stick up? Maybe some sort of holder so you can have it in front of you and easy to hand?

- since there is no really good way to see both rods at the same time or even to easily see them if you are looking to the front, have you got any sort of 'bite alarm' that will let you know when you have a fish on? I'm assuming you may fish both rods unless the bite is really frantic.

Yakity,

She looks beautiful, glad to see your hands haven't been idle.

Looks like all you need is a bit of snow with that hill.

Been reading up on the bait buckets since the discussion here a few weeks ago, be interested to know how you get on.

Hi Newt,

Im glad you like her , thankyou.

Re your thoughts.

The net being in the upright position, and behind me , realy isnt a problem.

Its easey for me to turn for it.

I like the cockpit of the Yak to be as clear as possible , because this is where the work takes place.

Having clutter about the place would be a pain.

Thats just me. :)

As for the rods being visable from the seat.

Its hard to see from the pics but , if you look, you will see that the pods on the crate are angled forward.

When in the seat, I can clearly see both rod tips.

The rods are also clear of the paddle stroke rotation.

I will use the rods in that position when trolling live bait/lures , or when anchored and bottom fishing.

The flushmounts are to store the rods when paddling from a to b.

I use 9ft rods which gives me plenty of control around the Yak when a fish is on.

Got it covered Newt :D , but thanks for being so interested , good points.

Hi Starvin.

Yep , Im pleased with how she has taken shape.

Still a few bits to do , but nearly there now.

Just need the hatch to arrive , and Ill be out there.

Yes a bit of snow on the hill would have been fun :D

Re the bait bucket.

I considered installing a bait tank into one of the Yaks.

But after carefull thought , I think the hastle far out wieghs the benifits.

The bait bucket , I think ,will be very little hastle , and so easey to use.

But thats just my oppinion.

It also takes up very little of the Yaks storage space.

Yes , you do have the hatches , but you know my feelings on that one:D

Hatches should stay firmly shut at sea, again just my oppinion:rolleyes:

Have you been chargeing your batteries in readiness for the 13 ?

Wont be long now , look forward to seeing your rig.

How did you get on with the van??

Hi Yakity,

We won't mention the van :(

Hopefully your hatch will be in the same shipment as my Prowler, due in Folkestone on the 8th I believe.

Not knocking the bucket I will probably get one, just read some negatives with regard to paddling, but like you say it will stand in the tankwell when paddling.

Looking into drift chutes at the moment, very much in the open on the south coast, not much to hide behind when the wind gets up a bit.

See you've fitted some leashes as well, nearly lost a rod last season, had a really hard tug on the line, hadn't secured the rod in its holder , it sat bolt upright and was on it's way out when I managed to get a hand to it, lost the damn fish, got excited and locked the spool by mistake, flurocarbon snapped. Did you make them yourself or purchase them?

Might have to buy a new PFD this year, suffering with a frozen shoulder, managed to free it up quite a bit, but still can't get it straight above my head so need to change to a zip up style, Specialist has told me upto 2 years before it's better, don't have a problem with a paddling movement though thank goodness....he told me it was common at my age... :D

I've looked into drift chutes too Starvin...seems they're more appropriate for lakes than the sea due to the tides but then I guess it depends on where you fish and when.

Does your shoulder affect your ability to swim?
