Storing tackle

B&Q do a crate with 4 large slide in boxes, it's perfect for lures whatever the size. They originally had two difference sizes of these, but now appear to only sell the larger version at £19.99. (Smaller was £14.99 and would have fitted the Caper tankwell).

It also has an orange foldaway handle and can be screwed to the wall.

So St Ouen- where you from?!! Quite a few Jersey people on here.

I use a Shimao lure bag around my waist if you are just lure fishing- fits 12 in I think, and attach my pliers onto the waist belt.

I only really lure fish from mine at the moment, so dont have any other ideas I am afraid.

Hi St Ouen. I use a cheap trout fishereman's waistcoat. it has loads of pockets, all zipped for security. usually I can store up to ten lures in their original plastic boxes, a priest, and lots of dangly things on the outside. there is a large back pocket which usually has a plastyic bag for fish, and two bar towels.

that way I can keep all my essential gear for plugging on me rather than having to keep it in a separate bag. it doesn't interfere with paddling provided you don't fill the back pocket with bulky items and have a high backrest.

With your name, do you perhaps look out onto the same bay as I do? :)

roccoyak, hope you still manage to get a PFD on over the top of that waistcoat or do you wear the waistcoat over the PFD.

Anyone got any good ideas on storing lures and gear on a prowler other than the collapsible crate. Has anyone come up with any modifications?

Thanks

This cooler of Richi's is the dogs gonads having admired it at our meets. I've just ordered the igloo cooler.

Richi - could you post up some photos and details about how you anchor it to your yak please? What fixings you have used etc.

SM, the waistcoat and pfd are one and the same! Seriously. Hardy used to make one for reservoir fishing etc which I got several years ago. It's a fabric jacket over or containing an automatic full lifejacket. Gives good wind protection too. There are one or two similar models usually advertised in the game fishing catalogues (eg.Sportfish or Fishtec)

Have also worn a Crewsaver lifejacket over a lightweight short trout waistcoat which works OK. Don't think a buoyancy aid thing would work over the waistcoat! .

Personally I prefer the lifejacket as I trust it more than a buoyancy aid which is not much use if you hurt your head; it's also far less obtrusive when it's just round your neck. Used to do some guard boating on RIBs for sailing etc, and people weren't allowed offshore on the RIB without a full lifejacket

How much are the igloos?

what size crate/cool box would fit in the back of the drifter?

Where can I obtain lots of pics of crates/boxes rigged up?
