Centerpin Fishing

I am NOT an expert, but I put 8lb PowerPro on my new centrepin, and it was totally fine.

I have used it twice, on my Normark Titan II at 14', and it behaves very well. I really enjoyed the finesse of using such light line. Never having used a centrepin reel before, I really wouldn't know how it compares, but if I can make it work, as a beginner, it shouldn't be impossible for anyone.

What's interesting is that, though anglers are rarely surprised by a totally grim day, we nearly always maintain our optimism. We understand pessimism because our dreams are sometimes dented by the blows of fate, but always our hope returns, like a primrose after a hard winter. ~ C. Yates.

Glad to hear your sorted now Steve. My money would have been on the grease! I wouldnt go back to mono.I had to use it on Sunday at Timsbury and missed the braid. It was back to losing as many small grayling as I landed!

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

my 8lb PP is going on my trudex which i use with a light 11½ft rod for fishing small streams and rivers like the penk or slow tribraties on the test ect where room is at a premium so i ain't given up on it just matching it too lighter rod ,as in the past i've used it with my old 15ft black shadow diawa rod which must be nearly 10 years old now and is a bit heavy for light float work and thats probably why i had a couple of minor problems using it,(and i no longer have two aventa pro's for float fishing with, and mainly used the 20lbPP reel anyway)and i've just loaded up my new k dowling reel with 30lb PP to use for barbel/ledgering with so all three of my centrepins have braid on them, its as if they where designed for it (well cat gut at anyrate!)
