Friday evening, venue Vat of Kirbister, me a seal and Pollock, Conger and Ling.

 

Saturday afternoon and evening, same place, no seal and only small Coalfish for company.

Vat Of Kirbister looks an interesting spot Bob. Are you sure your not confusing Seals and Cave Trolls?

Fish on,I find the seals make good "sheep dogs" herding the fish in

[Bob on Stronsay]

If you look at the picture you will see some rocks in the background just over the top of the Vat.

The rocks put you about 300 yards out to sea beyond the Vat and as long as you can cast 80 yards and get past the real craggy stuff you have a slim chance of getting your gear back. By casting this far you are in 120ft of water.

 

Most of the time I spin Jelly worms for Pollock but sometimes when I feel brave or particulary flush with leads I put bait down for what comes along (So far Pollock, Coalfish, Conger, Ling, Cod and me mate caught a small Rockling) so I am still looking forwards to those shore caught Porgies, Skate and other such species that could well pull me in.
