If you look at the picture you will see some rocks in the background just over the top of the Vat.

The rocks put you about 300 yards out to sea beyond the Vat and as long as you can cast 80 yards and get past the real craggy stuff you have a slim chance of getting your gear back. By casting this far you are in 120ft of water.

 

Most of the time I spin Jelly worms for Pollock but sometimes when I feel brave or particulary flush with leads I put bait down for what comes along (So far Pollock, Coalfish, Conger, Ling, Cod and me mate caught a small Rockling) so I am still looking forwards to those shore caught Porgies, Skate and other such species that could well pull me in.
