British Cod Championships supported by Raymarine November 2006 ~ Over 180 fishermen are expected to register for the 2006 annual British Cod Championships taking place on 15 and 16 November. 160 competitors took part in last year’s competition in the fierce waters off the Isle of Wight, and this year’s entrants hope to beat winner, Kim Bowden, who fought off all competition in 2005 bringing in three cod over the two days.

The British Cod Championships, which celebrates its 15th year in 2006, is supported by Raymarine. This Portsmouth-based high-tech marine electronics manufacturer, will be awarding a selection of Raymarine products to the skipper of the overall winning boat.

The fisherman will be competing for prizes including £1,000 each day for the heaviest cod caught and £1,000 for the person who catches the most cod over two days. The winning boat will also receive a C Series multifunction display complete with radar antenna and the ground-breaking DSM300 Sounder Module to ensure that the crew can continue their fishing successes.

Entries for the 2006 British Cod Championships must be received by 9 November - for further information please contact, Dave Stephenson, West Wight Charter Skippers Association on 01983 821225.
