What a fabulous year its been for uk kayak fishing . A never ending stream of newcomers to the sport , some great meets up and down the country and of course some big fish including that skate and some cracking Tope up here in Wales!! :)

Size isnt always best and i've set myself some targets for the new year .

Obviously Tope still rate high on the agenda , but i'd love to get any of the following probably on my trips to the Lakes!!

A Charr , or a vendace ( only in Bassenthwaite and Derwentwater ) or even a schelly !!

Record Schelly caught at Haweswater (I think!) 1986

certainly quarry worthy of the yaker!!

Whats your Target next year??

Only got the yak in June, have already beat my personal best biggest pre-yak fish (8lb bull huss) at least 3 or 4 times....think I beat it with a couple of conger as well!! Probably wouldn't have caught a tope or smooth hound with out the aid of the yak or the great help & advice off other yakkers!

More importantly, I suppose, have added more "magic moments" of fishing to my memories in the last 6 months than I've had over the last 5 years-ish!!! Roll on 2007!!

Never caught a bass over 2-3lb - that's my target....dare I say double figures??? :P:sun:

My target for 2007 is as many species as possible!

However a very fat flattie would be nice too!
