The big advantage of the colour screen is that you can read it in bright sunlight or glare off the water & from any angle which makes it more useable in close to the water conditions. We reckon, on average, that it uses 30-40% more power than the b&w but I'd be interested to see how this compares with Richi's findings?

Hi Andrew,at the moment I've been using a 7.2ah battery and I charge it after every trip

as it's never let me down yet I'm yet to establish how long the 7.2 lasts and I've done some pretty long trips with it.I will conduct tests shortly and let you know exactly how long I get from the 7.2---I reckon the choice between the two is like television and B&W went out years ago ---but then I am a bit of a TT

I haven't had any problems reading the screen in bright sunlight personally or with glare off the water, but i do wear polarised sunglasses while out in the sun and this may make a difference especially by cutting down reflected light off the surronding water.

If its any help my Lowrance unit M68i has run on my 4 ah battery for 9 hours and my 9ah has run the unit for 2 days. Colour comes into its own when viewing maps it is also more visible. If you are looking for some alternatives take a look at www.jkmax.co.uk Steve is always happy to advise the pros and cons of each unit.
