First trip out in the Pelican

GB

Recommended Posts

Took the Pelican out for her first fishing trip on Sunday.

Launched from Hobbs point in Pembroke Dock, headed down river on slack water to Stack Rock Island fortification. Fished for an hour with lures but the water was to dirty so ended up having afternoon tea alongside one of the work tugs.

Headed home on the flood and done the 7 mile return trip in a little over an hour. Total mileage for the day was 16.2 miles with an average speed of 3.3 mph and a max speed of 7.8 mph.

To sum it up the yak performed flawlessly. I am confident that the pelican will fulfill all my requirements for drift, lure and fly fishing and occasional anchoring too.

Got the rigging sorted without drilling any holes.

Front end with deck bag for first aid, big flares, flashlight and fog horn. With Silva compass and single paddle.

Rear end with Wychwood game bag for fishing kit and lunch with rod straps on top. Surf to Sumit high back cushion seat with fanny pack.

I name this kayak "CEZI B" God bless her and all who paddle and sail in her.

Ready to go.

No need for a rod holder, due to the position of your legs when in the seat the rod butt fits perfect under the leg for trolling.

No fish caught so I thought I'd take a picture of work (how sad am I) the one on the left is the one I work on.

1 on the lure is worth 2 from the bait.

She's a beauty mate

Not at all jealous... no.. er...yeah <_<

Your welcome to have a paddle anytime m8  I feel a pang of envy toward the guy's who can fit in the scupper pro's. Does this make my bum look big (no it's the sheer size of it that makes it look big GB )

She certainly is a beauty, the bass will be throwing them selves at you mate

I hope so H, time will tell. If all else fails I will at least blank in style and the trip home to the pub will take a little less time :D
