Under Water Viewing Systems - CarpCAM

Following the media interest in our new Under Water Viewing Systems whats the thoughts on this ?

Would be interested to know... Most Anglers i know and have spoken to are facinated by watching images of fish on video.

Reports that its taking the skill away from angling does not really stack up, they are designed to allow anglers to watch fish in a natural environment and learn about fish behaviour !

You could say that bait boats, echo sounders, optonics are taking the skill out of Angling. We have had no negative feedback from our customers, when they turn on the under water camera and see a 30lbs Carp on screen - Watch the faces on the Angler ! They are fixed to the screen with facination.

Show me an angler that would not be interested in seeing fish in his local lake via under water video !

You just found one, mate. Actually, I've already got an underwater viewing system - it's called my mind's eye and my imagination. Part of the fun and skill of angling, locating fish by features and conditions rather than sticking a camera in!

How about some free samples??

I'll field test one for you.

Have a lake to test it on.

How well does it perform at nearly 40 feet?

Ferret. This aggression is so unlike you. Are you perhaps being driven into a frezy by the smell of tinned chopped ham product ?

I think thats a bit unfair Ken as it has been something weve been discussing on here! And theguy has been straight and not tried to pretend hes a "satisfied customer" like so many other spammers do has he?

Anyway I reckon the Sheriff would have been on his case by now if he thought otherwise!

Any way yes I think they would certainly supply some really interesting information. My only reservations is wether they would actually be able to do what they say they can to a high enough standard to supply this info!

Not knocking the product as I know only what Ive read and the technical information given doesnt mean much to me.After having logged many hundreds of hours diving Im just concern about light levels ,depths of feild etc.Can such a device be "good"enough to actually see enough detail clearly enough to give us the results we would hope for? I should imagine due to my Army background rather than a Naval one Ive done a lot more diving in Freshwater than most and only recal a very few places where the visibility was any good. However these few (all gravel pits) were suprisingly clear and on a bright day could see the gear working.

No longer getting a proper income such a piece of kit is now well beyond my means but I would love to know how people actually do get on with it? I could certainly see such a piece of equipment (if it works) becoming very popular with hardcore specialists whilst even at that price it would be well within the reach of most clubs/syndicates to buy and hold a "pool" one for its members.

My big reservation though is the price! Not so much that it is too much for me to afford but more so that it is so relatively cheap! I say this as my only (very limited) experience of underwater surveillance gained during my degree and fishery management courses involved extremely expensive (certainly more like 4 .5 k than 450!) equipment and the results werent that clever!! But technology improves all the time so who knows?

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

Budgie, a similar camera was used for some of the footage in one of the TV programmes that I was involved in (Predators). To be fair it was tried in a crystal clear gravel pit on a sunny day. However the results were very impressive.

I'd be more interested in using such a camera to record fish behaviour - as in the Korda underwater videos - rather than finding fish. It would also be interesting to see what some of the swims looked like from underwater.

I'd be happy to allow the suppliers to do a demo at the Wingham Fish-in May. Anyone considering buying one could then see it in action first.

Sandersons, if you're interested please contact me.

Steve

If that comes off save a video for me. It would be fascinating to watch and given the clarity of the water at Wingham the results would be superb.

Na, serious.

The lake my mate Scott has is about 40 feet deep and I would love to field test one of these cameras.

But I'll bet a pound to a pinch of sh1t I don't get one to try. :headhurt:

I don't own an underwater camera setup but the one time I was out with a friend who had one, we were so interested in seeing what was really on the bottom and watching the fish, we didn't do much fishing.

In general, these are good for entertainment, possibly for seeing how your rigs really work in the water, and for finding out what the bottom is like. I know that I had one impression of some structure from the fish finder and the reality as shown by the camera was totally different.

Cameras are simply one more tool for an angler and while they will not suit all angler or all styles of angling, for some they are well worth the money.

I know nothing about this company but dising underwater cameras strikes me as about the same as the folks who think that because they don't like fish finders, none of us should use them.

A good setup should allow somewhat better views than a diver sees since you can do some filtering with the camera.

As Budgie noted, we already had a discussion on the cameras and even one for this specific company running so the site owner posting about his stuff was not seen by the mods as unwanted spam and the poster's connection with the company was made very clear.

Yes I would echo what Steve said! Come on Sandersons take him up on his offer to demonstrate one at this years Wingham fish in.I would be very interested in seeing one in action.Be a good chance of a bit of top promotional footage it would suprise me if there is any existing film/vidio/DVD footage of near record Bream,8lb Tench or 3 1/2lb+ Perch!

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!
