Hi corydoras

I have only one computer and will not have any more ( hard enough working one let alone networking lol lol)

And yes we do have a Maplins close by.

Steve, don't make that assumption too quickly. It's not just computers that connect to the internet these days. I got a wireless router so I could use my laptop and it never even occurred to me that my youngest would also then be able access the internet via her PSP. There are also increasing numbers of things like burglar alarms, phones, fridges! etc that are internet enabled. If it is 30 ft from the point were the wires come into your house to the computer it might be worth your while going down the wireless router path now in the assumption that other devices will follow.

Corydoras, I'm not questioning the wisdom of making sure your internal wiring is up to standard. What I wonder about is how many people are running ADSL through external wiring that was put up by the GPO in the 1950s! All the phone cables near me look ancient, surely not everyone is on cable? I don't see thousands of phone lines being replaced as I drive around.

That is what I was getting at, I should have been a bit more forthcoming. Colin is right Steve, computer networks have a propensity to grow, just because they can. Going wireless at the outset will cost a bit more to start, but mak pay dividends in the long run. I am going to do my shopping list and I might even do a Visio diagram or to if I can be bothered.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.
Vaut mieux ne rien dire et passer pour un con que de parler et prouver que t'en est un!
