Caerhayes, Cornwall 20/04/07

Had a couple of days down at Caerhayes this week and had a cracking time with the family, weather - well what could have been better!

Fished some Lures and Wedges just having one pull and a massive swirl at the surface. Sadly fish shook the hook and the rod never bent over.

Half a mile or so off shore I noticed a black back gull skimming a fish or two off the surface. Paddled out to take a look and it was Pilchards feeding on Very small fry at the surface. In some places the water was jumping with them.

Left a few of them Prawn / Crab traps overnight and pulled them today with some fun and anticipation.

Anyway photos will say more so here they are:

Please note that I only take him out when it is flat and notice the extra handle fitted for his safety. He loves it and is so brave!

The lack of leaves on the second last picture prove that it's still April. That aside, those pics look like an extract from the summer. You had some great weather.

Great to see those creels in action, I bought a few of those off e-bay during the winter. Going to try for a few prawns this summer for the BBQ.

Cracking Pics.

Great pics - its my favourite beach too - I was there with the kids a couple of weeks back. Some of the best weather we've had ever, never mind Easter. Saw the yaks on the beach and drooled. The FPO thinks we should get a dinghy we can all go out in, rather than a one-person loaded yak.

Still - partially sated the urge with a nice couple of pollack from a boat out of Falmouth later that week. One of these days I'll stop lurking on the shore and get on the water under my own steam.
