But hey Steve!! Isn't it EXCITING?? Just produced my FIRST site!! So I am NOT a whole lot of ruddy use really, but at least it got you going thinking someone had replied eh? :D

Good luck Friend!!

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))

All I can remember is when you want to insert something in HTML you click on the spot you wish to insert the code, go to the code and where the flashing cursor is is where you are on the page. That is what I was shown, I then inserted the code at that point. Any good?

S'why I use WYSIWYG!!

Hi Billy,

Can you let us know what you are using to edit your code ? Is it a wysiwyg editor ? can you get into the code ?

To insert ad banners in html you need to add the following code where you want the ad to show up

<a href="http://www.thesitethebannerpointsto.co.uk"><img src="the address of the banner goes here" alt="replace this with something about the page or about the picture" height="60" width="468"></a>

Make the alt tag appropriate to the page and not too spammy (you can get away with a few keywords). Search engines like alt tags.

If the banner isnt pointing to another site just use

<img src="the address of the banner goes here" alt="replace this with something about the page or about the picture" height="60" width="468">

The height and width should be the size of your banner

For search engines :

submit the site to google:

http://www.google.co.uk/addurl/?hl=en&continue=/addurl

submit a sitemap to google

https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogi...%2Fsiteoverview

Also Make sure your pages have unique title and descriptions tags in the header sections of the htm. Dont give each page a meta title of my website or something like that.

Those are the basics, There are lots of other things you can do to get search engines to like you. If your interested just say.

Cheers - Glenn

p.s if your adding partners and links dont forget mine

Add banners are filtered by many of the search engines, especially if you call the image files, or the folder in which they sit, anything like 'advert.gif' or 'ad-banner.jpg' etc.. Google is quite clever that way and will give little or no weight to your site based on ads.

Note: if you're not careful bad site design and coding can impact negatively on your web site indexing. Whatever you do, when your site is complete, do not under any circumstance submit your site to one of the site promotion engines or link farms - your site may get temporarily black-listed. The best places to submit are Yahoo, Google, and DMOZ - the rest will find you on their own.

Remember the key to index success is clean code and good content. In fact, "Content is King!"
