Never tried them myself but I don't see any reason why they wouldn't work, slugs are a good bait for barbel apparently and snails are just slugs with a detached house.... Give them a crack and see what happens :)

Yeah so did I.

I thought the best natural bait for Barb's is Lob's.

I've caught both chub and barbel on slugs, never tried snails though.

Until you try you'll never know, whoever first tried luncheon meat, cheese, sweetcorn etc, were never sure until they tried it.

If I'm not sure of a bait, I will try loose feeding to fish I can see, if they take it, then your confidence is that much higher when you eventually put it on the hook.

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

I meant chub <_<

I just wish someone would tell the fish which bait they're supposed to take, I nearly caught a pike on a lump of cheese a few years ago. Bugger bit through the line just before I got it in the net

Did you know black slugs like to gorge themselves on dogs poo :yucky:

Please be careful not to burst the skin when hooking

As well as rotting vegitation and flesh, Rabbit. But the fish don't seem to mind.

I use tongs to put them on the hook, it's less messy that way.
