its only a compact but I think its a half decent one.

Fujifilm f31fd..........any tips on little alterations to the settings to get the best out of it would be most useful if anyone has any.

Paid 112 quid so I reckon I good a good deal. (jessops if anyone wants one)

Take a few shots in the various modes it will have and post up the results. I am sure you will get some feedback/tips then :D

Happy shooting :camera:

Not seen one myself, but pay attention to the ISO settings and the white balance, they are probably the most important bits for you to fiddle with. Most importantly is to take loads and loads of pictures and then see how they turn out and learn from that

If all else fails, follow the intructions.

Phil, set it on auto and take various pics. If they come out looking like what you can see with your eyes, leave it at that.

Thanks guys.........I suffer with shaky hands and I notice there is a sport mode so might give that a try to keep the pictures pin sharp. In fact its got bloody loads of settings so plenty for me to experiment with.

I'll post up one or two of the results.

well, as promised, here are a few of the results from my week in cornwall testing the camera!

Overall I'm very impressed given the camera was a little over 100 quid and 'only' a 6megapixel variant.

One or two of my pics are still slightly less than sharp despite using the sport mode and put that down to my shaky hands. Only a few pics and even then their lack of sharpness is only slight and I've not had to bin any pics as catastrophes.

Here is the first pic..........

Its a demo of how bloody good this camera is in low light conditions. It was quarter to seven and the best of the light had long gone. With sport mode on the auto ISO setting gave me 3200 (a setting most compact cameras don't even have) and whilst the pic is grainy, I think its perfectly accptable given the conditions and camera settings.

Tried the flash from VERY close (we were on a narrow breakwater so no room to move back without me going SPLOSH!) and was pleased that it managed a nice exposure without washing out the detail in her face whilst still managing to capture the sunset behind. Not a masterpiece but quite pleased with this pic......
