Broke my rod last night...

Broke my only 1.75 T/C rod on the Kennet last night - at least it went down in glory as I was landing an 11lb 6oz barbel at the time (wrapped in a dustbin load of ranunculus which did for the rod)!!

So I'm looking to replace it. Want something similar ie 12' and 1.75 TC. Hyperloop Power Barbel and Korum Neoteric have been recommended to me so far - anything else ot there I should have a look at?

Chris,

without bursting the bank the i-power (which I know you know of) is an awesome rod. Wychwood do some great rods too, used a couple a few seasons ago, and at around £50 a real bargain. Grey's do some nice rods but I find them too soft, although I do have one of their staker rods that I use on the Teme.

To be honest, I would go with something with a Harrison blank, just great rods.

Harrison Chimera specialist, just love mine, although I use it for carp and tench more than I use it on the rivers.

nice action, plenty of power, I have had carp to 18lb on it, and a full cork handle so it looks great with a 'pin too :)

Chris,

the isoblobs are easy enough to do yourself with a few different diameter pieces of silicone and a few other bits. You will have to remove the top eye to do the job, but it is easily araldited back on.

BTW, I love my i-power. It has a great action and plenty of power when needed, comes with two tops 1.75 and 2lb. Bob does a great job on the build of them. I would get your order in though as the wait is now around 4 months I blieve.

I always see the Greys Prodigy Barbel rod recommended in these types of threads so I bought one recently. Rrp of £120 but can be found cheaper. Lifetime guarantee (they send a replacement section providing you send the broken section back and pay £20...).

There is an avon top section and a quiver tip top section with 3 quiver tips. 1.75 tc, 12 foot.

The best time to fish is when you have a chance.

If you want a Harrison barbel rod building why not have a look at Dave Lumbs site http://www.dlst.co.uk as he builds his rods on Harrisons blanks and does the i power and chimera blanks but you won't have to wait too long for it

Thanks for that - and to Seph & Bingo - ooo decisions, decisions!
