Fishermen risk death by using kayaks in quest to catch sharks

I have sent an e-mail to Ocean Kayaks USA of my disapproval of the way they are promoting kayak fishing

I must go down to the sea again

To the lonely sea and sky

I left my shoes and socks there

I wonder if they're dry?

As you know Mark, one of my other hobbies is shooting, I too have killed, fish, feathers and fur. I enjoy hunting in all its forms, but I only take what I can eat, that doesn't mean filling the freezzer or suppling half the street either. I do not agree with killing for trophies and in the present "anti everthing" climate, I think that it is irrisponsible for the angling press to allow photos of this type to be shown. We all know this sort thing goes on for what ever reason and however you want to justify it but why give the anti brigade ammunition.

I agree totally Pete. Hence the last line - "As for me, I wouldn't bother killing them anymore, it was different times. I certainly wouldn't kill one just for a picture." As I said it was half a lifetime away. I ahve no use for a dead shark. I would, however, fill my freezer in the same way that I make large batches of jam with summer fruit, buy half a lamb at a time, get pheasants and partridges off the beaters etc - I want to eat fish all year (I'd eat it daily if I could afford it) and hence if it's sizeable, edible and wanted I'll gut and freeze. My wife gets annoyed with me as it happens because, as most of my fishing is freshwater i never bring anything home. It doesn't help that when I go in the sea she still gets an empty plate!

Wetter than an otter's pocket.

I will be able to cook on Sunday, possibly Friday but saturday is out. I'm going to net all weekend to try and get some crabs, prawns etc.

So, Sunday lunch for those present?
