Jeepster, Most Haunted...it's brilliant, has the missus and me in stitches, me I'd run a mile, use to work in a haunted building, never saw any but there were plenty of sightings, took about 10 years for me to realise that the footsteps up the stairs when I was working late alone was actually a door tapping gently in one of the many corridors, kept me regular though. ghost

Tony have had a look at a Prowler 13, mighty fine looking yak, like Yakity has said the only problem with it is the forward hatch the neoprene gasket is a pig to fit, even with 2 people, having said that there is really no need to open it when on the water and it may ease with use, it won't put me off though, looking to get one for next season, wife willing.

Have recently had an email from a couple of chaps near Anglesey, both have just purchased a Prowler 15 and are very pleased with them and yes Yakity at least one of them has ended up in the water.

Off to look at me tiles.

Yeah the 2005 edition of the prowler 13 looks good: http://www.oceankayak.com/Prowler13_Hotsheet.html

Would you know if this edition would be available in the UK soon after it is launched? I guess I could contact OK direct about this.

So...gear list would be as follows:

kayak

paddle

wetsuit

bouyancy jacket

roofrack

mobile phone/radio

flare/s

fishing gear :o )

?

oops forgot.. backrest & legstraps (what are leg/thigh straps for?)

Good start Tony.

Paddle leashe (very important)

Seat for Kayak.

Cag (windproof breatheable waterproof top)

Loud whistle.

Fishing gear, take only what you intend to use on the day.

Rods.

Most of us use very light spining rods, I have a pike lure rod which has a bit more guts for the wrasse etc.

Length wise, 7 to 9 ft is ideal.

Reels.

Fix spool 10lb line for Bass etc.

I use baitrunners.

Of course a lot will depend on what you want to target on the day.

Selection of lures, poppers etc.

Your personal equipment will change time and again, untill you are happy with your choices.

The Kit we have both listed is to get you started, there are other bits and bobs, Anchor, first aid kit (basic )bright torch, compass,

Etc.

I have been on the phone to our local rep from the Canoe Union, he has said that no permit is needed for ouir river, or canal, and would you believe the Enviroument Agency is putting some jetties about for the users.Good eh.

YY.
