Hi Guys

I have been fishing for about five years now and i try to fis about 12 diffrent venues a year as well as my local club matches, but in all this time i have only been asked for my rod licence once and that was about 6 weeks ago and at a new fishery that had only just opened, why is it that we are never checked for our licences as they cost enough, and all the time i have fished matches weather they are club or open matches i have never had to produce it. Is it becase no body can be bothered this day and age!!!.

I have been aske by my club to run the matches fot next year and i have all ready stated that if you dont have a upto date rod licence you wont fish the match.

Please can i have your vews on this subject

It is a tricky one ,I have never been asked for my rod and line but I know two chaps that have and one of them as been has been asked quite few times ,but personaly if I was in your shoes I would probably just let the EA know where and when your matches are and they might send a bailiff to check (The bailiff round by us seems to know when the matches are on)at least then rather than fishing somewhere else the people without a licence will fish your matches and could get caught.

Given that even the EA don't require you to carry a licence and are quite happy to check their database to see if you have one, I don't really think you can unilateraly impose presentation of a licence as a condition for fishing unless it's already in the club rules.

Personally, I'd be inclined to simply let members know that you are sending a list of venues and dates to the local EA balif and let them make up their own minds whether to buy a licence.
