Carp Farming on Countryfile

Is this the farm that was featured on Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstalls recent fishing programme ? I seem to remember that the carp were being fed on....or the water was being 'loaded' with.....manure !!!

As Lyn said , they are cleansed or flushed through with freshwater in seperate holding tanks for a few days before being sold .

Yes it was the same one.

This worries me the reason being the majority of Britain's do not understand catch and release, in fact its only us anglers that care about the well being of fish stock, how many times have you been fishing and a neighbor or passer bye has asked "any for the pot ?".

If this 'alternative food source' to use the hip phrase catches on I can see our 'public rivers and park lakes' getting pillaged by one day anglers having a bit of fun and getting something for the pot into the bargain.

If this is the road we are being forced down at least bring in legislation to protect wild fish stocks first and police any laws.
