I think an amalgamated body is a must in the present social environment of this country, every group from PETA, the RSPB and even commercial fishing interests seem better organised and more resourceful than angling bodies. My hope is that this super body does not leave us thousands of pleasure anglers behind and finds a way to get us involved.

I have wrote to my MP on a number of occasions, the only time he has acknowledged my letters is regarding the Blueprint for water initiative. This worries me the reason being the majority of Britain's do not understand catch and release, in fact its only us anglers that care about the well being of fish stock, how many times have you been fishing and a neighbor or passer bye has asked "any for the pot ?". If this 'alternative food source' to use the hip phrase catches on I can see our 'public rivers and park lakes' getting pillaged by one day anglers having a bit of fun and getting something for the pot into the bargain. If this is the road we are being forced down at least bring in legislation to protect wild fish stocks first and police any laws.

I mean by the way the bait reacts, its like a Lion stalking a springbok tethered to a post. Where as a deadbait, well acts like a dead fish. I think some lures act more than a live fish than a silver fastened to 20lb line swimming around in a circle.

My tuppence, I dont personaly live bait not exactly natural is it like some people say. How can it be, when a fish is not allowed to react in a natural way and take evasive action when a predator approaches. Should it be banned, I dont think so, it will set a precedent and who knows what will be banned next. I think its best left to individual choice, and like someone pointed out earlier, its slowly becoming unfashionable anyway.

Tell you what mate, it will change you lure fishing experiance (for the better hopefully). But as for fluorocarbon line being near invisable under water, this is to the human eye surely, who can see like a fish ?.

Some might say the old close season was first intoduced not to protect breeding fish but to clear the rivers of working class course fisherman during the game season. I'm all for unification it might help in changing legislation to protect course fish to the same degree as game fish.

Does anybody know the percentage off pollution caused by anglers tackle containing lead compared to emissions caused by pleasure craft using waterways ?. Its seems equal to banning micro-lites to halt aviation pollution to me.
