Circle hooks for pike

Thanks for comments, but could someone say how you hook a deadbait with a circle or other single hook. Do you just lip-hook it, or get a bigger hook and bury it in the body of the bait with just the point sticking out, rather like plastic lures?

Personally, I'd only use a single hook (for pike) if I was using a small bait (up to maybe 4"), and either lip hook, or through body below the dorsal depending upon hook size and method in use ... bearing in mind that something this size (and much larger) can easily be engulfed by any respectable perch.

I've got an open mind for other species but I'm not a fan of circle hooks for deadbaiting for pike. A few of you may remember they cost me a big pike. See http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/1064490-wingham-pike-survey/.
