Warwickshire Avon fisk kill

I'm seeing reports of a major fish kill on the Warwickshire Avon.

If anybody is planning on fishing it over the opening weekend, you might want to do a bit of digging around to find more news.

Not good !

There has been several fish kills round these parts in the last week !!

Thunderstorms washing sewage and organic matter into the water, followed by a bacterial bloom that uses up all the oxygen.

It must have been a major sewage inflow in this case because it happened well up the river, the water up there moves quite fast, has heaps of plant life and regular weirs.

I always have a quick look at the local rivers etc when I go over them or past them and the rivers were flowing very slowly and had lots of sewage floating on the surface.  It was the bubbles which forms into brown scum.  It gets stuck on overhanging branches and against the bank in low conditions forming quite large rafts.  You can smell it also, it really is beyond belief that this is being done so blatantly!

The water treatment people must be in league with the devil himself as they are completely immune to fines.... as we the customer have to pay them out of our bills(even though we don't want the muck in the rivers), unless the shareholders/boards of these companies are punished directly it will never ever stop!!!
