Cory, the polls close at 7:00pm in each time zone which means it will be 10:00pm our time before the polls in California close (NC is 5 hours behind GMT). Much early voting was done this year. There will be projections throughout the entire evening sucking up the prime time coverage of the 3 major networks and many news channels. The winner in each state will be announced as the polls close. Eventually one candidate concedes to the other excepting when the voting is real close, like in 2004, when the winner wasn't officially declared until they recounted Florida's votes numerous times. It's doubtful this election will be near that close.

Not worth losing sleep, Cory. The final results will be the same in the morning. I live here and it still blows my mind that a candidate can win in the popular vote but still lose to the electoral votes.

couldn't sleep so got up to take a look.

 

so Obama projected to win Pensylvannia and Ohio.........you know I'm beginning to think he actually might win it you know!

 

If he does then arguably my lifetime will have contained some of the most memorable events in world history (for good and bad reasons)....collapse of the soviet union....fall of the berlin wall.....911.....first black US president, to name but a few.
