Tip Light tip?

Bought a pair of those Mark 3 tip lights the other day. Little battery powered things that come with a mini bracket for attaching to your rod tip. Instructions said 'Glue or whip the bracket to the rod.' Glue!!!!!You must be joking. My rod's worth more than my car. And as for whipping on? Lot of trouble if you want to get it right. Forget it.

Solution: Bought a 6" length of 3/16"(approx) inside diameter PVC tubing from a Motor Spares shop that sold it 'cut to length' for 20p. Cut the tube in half to give me two 3" bits and then cut each piece along its length. Super-glued the brackets (and my fingers) to the split tubes and now have two push over light tip holders which won't mark the rod when putting on and taking off before and after casting. Slips over the rod tip via the split dead easy but self-clamps more than enough to hold the whole thing on. More security can be made by Velcro (ing) the tube onto the rod if you want to leave it on when casting.

Where's me Blue Peter badge?

I'm sold on those chemical light affairs, though if I'm only fishing the dark for a while I rely on the reflective tape. I note your solution and may adapt it for my own use. Currently I just tape them on but this is a pain and it cover up lots of the light (with tape) which defeats the purpose somewhat.

Good idea, but doesnt the water "kill" the glue ???. I have mine whipped on, and its not a problem to do it, I get Alan Taylors ghillie to do it for me once a year or so.... :D:D

I just bought 100 chemical lights from Askari for under £7. Tested one and they seem excellent.

They are here.

i whipped mine on ,one red and one amber all you have to do is get them on the right way round .

i trimmed mine to fit the thinner tip on my new rod than the thick fiberglass old one.
