sea angling and conservation tv documentary.

below is an email i have sent out to most of the worlds fishing tackle companys that sell to the uk one month ago. i have had one positive reply from shimano, which i shal use for motivation to continue down this avenue towards the goal ie, a tv documentary for sea anglers and conservation. whats your opinion guys, and any advice from people that have had experience with tv programes and what is involved would be appreciated.

ps. i have also added shimano's email response.

dear sir. this request may seem a little strange to

respond to but it is of absolute necessity for you and

i, as i am a recreational sea angler and you are a

major fishing tackle business. what i am refering to

is the rapid declining fish stocks in the uk coastal

waters ie, there will come a time very shortly when i

and most of the uk sea anglers estimated 1 million

will throw in the towel on this hobby because there is

just no fish to catch, end of story, end of hobby, and

the end of one branch of your business. can you afford

to ignore this? well i hope you cant because there is

something we can do to start to help reverse the

situation and it leads me to my request, i have been

told one of the biggest problems to this situation is

the lack of awareness, conveniently for our

government, because people cant see whats going on

under the sea but us anglers are aware but no one

wants to listen, so it was with this thought that an

idea to make a tv documentary or programe about the

sorry state of affairs and to highlight whats realy

going on came about. my part would be to organise this

with a tv angling celeb hosting it and your part would

be as one of the sponsors. you will not be the only

company i will be asking i will be requesting the same

co-operation from every leading fishing tackle company

in the world who sell their products to the uk. this

is just at the idea stage but obviously the programe

will outline the huge amount of money this hobby

generates and its larger potential if their were fish

to catch. if we can get the message home to start to

conserve our stocks, and not allow the few greedy

commercial fishermen with their large pair trawls to

decimate our inshore fish stocks to extinction. please

let me know what you think of my request, i look

forward to your response. Mr Andrew Davies.

Hi Andrew,

Apologies for the delay in my response - I've been away for two weeks and

with another two weeks off at Christmas, I've not been around very much!

I like your idea and agree with you 100% - lack of awareness is a huge

problem as is ignorance. Once you get a definite plan in place, please get

in contact with me again and we can discuss how Shimano can help.

Regards,

hi scrabster dangler, i have raised this issue with a tv angling celeb, and he said that he would like to help but the channel he worked for would probably not be interested in such a programe, but he did say a terrestrial channel may do it, if so i got the impression that he may offer his services, he is i feel a genuine salt of the earth type of guy, obviously money will come in to it somewhere down the line so im trying to get some sponsership together, hence the emails, im sure if that is provided we can get the programe made and then convince one of tv companys to show it, i think they would go for it, with all the interest and media talk about the marine enviroment just lately, i think the demands for viewing such a programe are there.

My farther has done a bit of TV, we took Toney Robinson out when my dad had his charter boat. It was his around Anglia program. He wonted to do a small bit with my dad on bass conservation, the troble was he booked in November. We fished all day the day before he came out and caught one small bass. This bass was kept in a 10 gallon drum, when Toney came out the bass had a hook put in its mouth and we protended to catch it. The bass was reeled in, messured, scales taken, taged and then put back.Artistic lisence works every time...

Hi there,

If you want to get an email read then a solid block of text is not the best approach.

Your email is effectively one long sentence without a break.

If the reader is not very interested in what you are saying then they will just skip it.

Try rewriting and resending it, you might get more response this time.
