Angel of the North Fishing Lakes

A week of dull, cold weather with fogs, cold winds, and at last Sunday we had some sun, water temperatures across lakes have dropped by at least half a degree, despite this there has been some cracking fishing on all lakes, fishing very well on tip with maggot, pellet, and corn  across to islands. Waggler or pole into margins or try at bottom of second shelf at 3 metres out, or try 6 metres out try paste, pellet, worm cocktail and maggot. All species feeding very well and its easy to target species specific with correct methods and baits. Fish moving all around the lakes  generally following favourable winds but not obviously E or N. .

has been fishing exceptionally well with all novices and competent anglers catching well on pole, elasticated whips, and float rod.   Durham County Football Club had a very successful morning on Friday with Rudd, Roach, Ide, Carp, Tench being caught best fish was a carp at 4lb 6oz.. Maggot working the best then pellet and sweetcorn over angel feed pellets.

Some great catches out with Rudd on the drop, Skimmers, bream, tench and carp on the bottom, come up a bit and roach also carp,  perch and Ide feeding very well.

All methods working but float or pole tight in of first and second shelves and tip to back of island or far bank working well. Pellet on the hook or banded and hair rigged doing well, over angel pellets, maggot and feed maggot, sweetcorn and paste also doing well.

Jimmy Hagan fishing peg 24 caught Carp on the bomb using pellet hair rigged, then changed to pole mid way along the feature of the bridge using maggot and feeding angel pellets catching 23 carp, rudd on the drop, went dead depth and caught skimmers, roach,  Ide, Tench and perch.

Pleasure anglers have had a great week with pegs 12, 16, 18, 36, 37, 40,  1, 2, 3, 23 all doing very well, Tip working well with pellet, sweetcorn and maggot, pole with paste, pellet and maggot. If waiting for a bite feed angel pellets or try groundbait feeder with maggot or caster.

Fishing Float tight to margins just at edge of the Reeds at first shelf about 3ft deep or off second shelf about 3 meters out. William Green from Gateshead had two good 20s on peg 18 ledgering  with 25 mm Pellet tight to island one a common at 21lb 6oz  and one a mirror very deep at 23lb 10oz Bill also had 8 other good carp around the 10lb mark but did not weigh these.

Coaching is at the moment on Saturday mornings from 9am 'til noon please phone to book, next weeks match on Lookout is already fully booked.
