This label game is ridiculous! As is the 'realtree' thing! I mean, oh dear, lets not go down that path again!!

Strangely, in pike fishing circles, the Fox logo appears to be working against them. Probably an inverse snobbery thing, or is there a deeper reason?

This thing about branded tackle. Do you know has made the tackle? I know that some houswife who want's to earn a little extra money are busy at home tying rigs which are then bagged up with a top brand name. They are then sold at silly prices in tackle shops. I am sure this is the same for alot of there other gear. Who knows where or who made it.

I tend to buy my tackle on the baisis of what I need it for and what I want it to do. I very rarly go and buy top branded gear for the sake of it.

it all probably comes out the same chinese factory :D

at least with intrepid you could bang on the door of the factory and demand action ,now companies dont even have spares, send them your broken reel a new one comes back .a little like honda 90's only whole bikes were exported from the factory and those not for sale as complete bikes were broken down for spares as reels are cheaper to replace than fix there is no need for spares, but there must be a huge pile of honda 90 frames out there somewhere

i expect all rod blanks are too made in a super factory ,the "perfect" blanks go to supplier A the next best B and so on down, mind you theres nothing to stop supplier A buying blanks for supplier E and getting an even greater mark up

How many factories do you think there are in China making rod blanks?

Not many?

I would say only a few with another one in Taiwan.

The reason is simple, these factories specialise in making rod blanks.

I dont think there is a tackle name anywhere in the world who sells enough rods to keep a factory and workforce in fulltime production.

Lets look at some figures :

You sell 20000 abc123 rods in a year.

On average thats 385 rods a week or 55 a day.

I dont think a factory will last very long only making 55rods a day.

I know for a fact that perkins engines factories in Peterborough dont just make Perkins engines.

They can make upto 1500 engines a day with different specs at their Peterborough facility.

Do you think that a company such as Drennan have one factory making hundreds of different products?

Most importers SOURCE their products and find a factory that can meet their design specifications at the cheapest price.

The majority of these factories are in the Far east due to a very cheap workforce.

I work for a garden tool importer who sells the same tools to both middle men AND all of the major and alot of smaller garden tool suppliers such as b&q, homebase etc etc.

The funny thing is he has quoted some companies for certain products but been undercut by middle men who have then bought the same goods from the far east factory that he owns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are unaware that he owns the factory.

His factory even packages and labels the packaging with the various stores logos etc so he can deliver direct to distribution centres or even individual stores.

I wonder how many of these specialist factories take one of their customers designs and sell it to other customers or just make a few changes to the specs then sell the design or even knock out a few of their own brand products???????????

And then there is the Ford Galaxy, Volkswagon Sharon and Seat Alhambra!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RUDD

Different floats for different folks!
