How long was your drill Gedi? I take your point - but once through the first layer you are meant to stop pushing - and drilling!

 

Chesters - aluminium rivets for kayaks mate - NS4 grade, saltwater resistant aluminium. You can also get suitable rivets from OK.

 

Standard steel rivets no good at all - good point, the type of rivets was discussed further up the page, but anyone reading below wouldn't have realised. No harm in pointing out that standard rivets are a waste of money and time.

missed that ,those klamptite rivets look the job! any retailers over here as they will be great in a thinner walled material as you cannot always get a brass washer on the rear for extra security on ordinary ones

You managed to fit the cleats yet Martin or are you having another little breather worth noting that you need to get the cleats around the right way the wrong way and your line can get caught around them, the right way and the lines will slip off, also make sure you get a left and right cleat.
