GREEDY BAIT FREEZE DRIED RAG WORM

just wanted to let fellow anglers know about my experience with greedy baits freeze dried rag worm.

bought 2 packs of it to try down at dungeness, and what a waste of money it was. followed the instructions on the packet to the letter, and the end result was nothing less than a load of mush.

in my opinion if you can't get fresh rag don't bother wasting your money on this rubbish.

I have never come across Preserved sea bait other than frozen worth a Toss,

Although Poeple swear by salted black lugg its not for me, Next time your down Dungie there are several houses that advertise bait fresh and frozen Bait for sale use them.

That's a good idea in principal but it doesn't work if you've driven from Portsmouth to find that nobody's got any so you end up buying herrings for dabs and whiting.

Salted slipper limpet is excellent and mussel, razor, clams can all be done the same way, last for ages stay on the hook and cast well, soften up once in the briny and catch plenty of fish.

Ken I think its just what you have confedence in mate, I realy only ever use fresh stuff after a series of blanks on salted stuff

I supose if I stuck with it somthing would give!

Got to agree with ya lads. i've also tried the smartbait black lug with the oil, and the smartbait peeler crab. another load of crap, it smells nothing like crab or lug. in fact the smell reminds me more of a wax polish my mum used to use.

i think i'll just stick to the fresh bait in future and if i can't get any just not bother going.

Ray - it sounds like something went wrong with your pack. I'd suggest contacting them.

 

I saw it mentioned in Boat Fishing Monthly a while back. i'll see if Dave Barham can add anything here.

New to this forum, so dont want to make enemies!! But I tried Greedy Bait fat worms and found them excellent and caught as well as the live bait I had been using previously.

I only soaked very very briefly, just until slightly soft and they were just the right consistency for the hook.

Would always prefer live, but the Greedy Bait seemed like an excellent alternative and certainly nicer to handle than any other preserved or frozen baits I have used.

Welcome Jonesey, you boat or shore, Me being tight i think the preserved is a bit dear compared to fresh and it is quite easy to get hold of frozen at the same cost if fresh is in short supply. Now if you was to say that the preserved is a killer bait, i might think again. Cheers.

I was sent 2 tubs of lazy lug to review, I was impressed with the feel and look of the worms, although the 'alcohol' smell was off putting. I fished 2 rods alternately and caught 3 fish on ragworm, nothing on the lazy lug. Thinking this was an unfair test, using live bait against preserved bait I returned on the next night with frozen lug to use. Again, 4 fish on the frozen lug, nothing on the lazy lug. I drained the lazy lug of its preservative liquid and poured some lug extract I'd received from Shakespeare over the remaining worms and let it soak in, result, a pout on the lazy lug but 2 more on the frozen lug. One final try 2 weeks later on the other tub as I was hoping for an advert from the suppliers and I didn't think I'd get one from the present results. Again, nothing on the lazy lug but pout, a dog and a dab on ragworm, fish strips and frozen lug. One other point, I was told I didn't need to 'fridge' the lazy lug but after 2 weeks in the boot of my car, the new tub of worms was fairly soft and went 'mushy' during the session. Not impressed at all as it was as dear as fresh bait.
